Description

Pleurothallis brenneri xanthinum

Name: Pleurothallis brenneri – xanthine color form

Etymology: The genus name Pleurothallis means “side-flowering”; brenneri is a patronymic. In horticulture, “xanthinum” refers to a yellowish or reduced-pigment color form.

Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate this form in cool conditions at approximately 9–21°C, with high humidity, diffuse light, and continuous air movement. We keep the fine roots evenly slightly moist.

Description and Notes: This selection is distinguished by its yellowish or distinctly reduced-pigment flower color. A fine, very airy, and slightly moisture-retaining orchid substrate and water that is as soft as possible are beneficial. We avoid prolonged heat.
