Description

Phragmipedium Ingrid Suarez Ecuagenera

Name: Phragmipedium Ingrid Suarez Ecuagenera

Parents: Phragmipedium kovachii × Phragmipedium humboldtii

Registration: Registered by Ecuagenera with the Royal Horticultural Society in 2019.

Etymology: The genus name Phragmipedium is derived from Greek word elements meaning “partition” and “shoe,” referring to the fan-shaped ovary and shoe-shaped lip.

Location/Cultivation Conditions: Cultivate in bright to partial shade, with high humidity and continuous gentle air movement. Suitable temperatures are approximately 16–25 °C during the day and 12–18 °C at night. Use an airy yet moisture-retaining potting medium and keep evenly moist with soft water; Phragmipedium roots should not dry out completely.

Description and Notes: A primary hybrid that combines the very large, intensely pink flowers of Phragmipedium kovachii with the vigorous growth and longer floral segments of Phragmipedium humboldtii. Seedlings may vary considerably in color, habit, and segment length.
