Description

Phragmipedium Carol Kanzer

Name: Phragmipedium Carol Kanzer

Etymology: The genus name Phragmipedium is derived from the Greek phragma ("partition, dividing wall") and pedion ("slipper"), referring to the divided structure of the flower. "Carol Kanzer" is the registered grex name.

Registration: The hybrid was registered in 1980.

Origin / Breeding: Primary hybrid of Phragmipedium pearcei × Phragmipedium schlimii.

Description & Notes: Compact Phragmipedium hybrid from two smaller-growing species with narrow foliage and sequential flowers. We grow it in bright to partial shade with consistent moisture. The substrate should never dry out completely, while good air circulation is also important. We cultivate it at approximately 18–28 °C.
