Name: Andreettaea zephyrina
Etymology: The genus name Andreettaea is a patronymic. The specific epithet zephyrina is derived from Zephyrus, the gentle west wind of Greek mythology, and means figuratively "belonging to the west wind" or "gentle as the Zephyr".
Origin/Distribution: Andean region of South America.
Location/Habitat: The species grows epiphytically in moist montane forests. We recommend partial shade to bright, diffused light, high humidity, and continuous air movement. Temperate conditions of approximately 12–24 °C during the day and 8–17 °C at night are favorable. The very fine roots should remain evenly and slightly moist.
Description and Notes: Andreettaea zephyrina is a miniature botanical orchid from the Pleurothallidinae group with a compact growth habit and small, finely structured flowers. We prefer to cultivate it mounted or in a very fine, airy orchid substrate that retains some moisture. We use as soft water as possible, avoid allowing it to dry out completely for extended periods, and ensure good air movement when humidity is high.
