Masdevallia weberbaueri

Name: Masdevallia weberbaueri Schltr.

Origin/Distribution: Southern Ecuador to northeastern Peru.

Location/Habitat: The species grows epiphytically in moist montane and cloud forests with filtered light and consistent humidity. For cultivation, we recommend cool to temperate conditions, approximately 10–22 °C, high humidity, and gentle, steady air movement.

Description and Notes: The species produces striking flowers with long, pointed sepal tips and is suitable for a consistently moist, cool to temperate Masdevallia culture. We cultivate it in a fine, airy, yet moisture-retaining orchid potting medium. The medium should never dry out completely; however, waterlogging and stagnant air should be avoided.
