Name: Masdevallia Little Girl
Parents: Masdevallia tovarensis × Masdevallia Denis Roessiger
Etymology: The genus name Masdevallia honors José Masdeval, a Spanish physician and botanist. Little Girl is the grex name of this hybrid.
Location/Culture: We recommend a bright to semi-shaded location with diffused light, high humidity, and very good air circulation. Cool-intermediate to intermediate conditions of about 11–23 °C are favorable, with cooler nights. The substrate should remain evenly slightly moist, without being permanently waterlogged.
Description and Notes: Masdevallia Little Girl combines Masdevallia tovarensis with the hybrid Masdevallia Denis Roessiger. The plants grow compactly without pseudobulbs and form individual leathery leaves on short shoots. Due to the combination of a botanical species with a more complex hybrid, flower color, patterning, and shape can vary between individual seedlings. The flowers typically show the characteristic Masdevallia shape with clearly developed sepals and elongated tips. We water regularly with the softest water possible and do not let the fine roots dry out completely. A fine, airy, and slightly moisture-retentive substrate works well. High humidity should always be combined with continuous air movement.
