Name: Masdevallia Otto Roblero
Parents: Masdevallia Falcata × Masdevallia MacInnes' Golden Heart
Registration: Masdevallia Otto Roblero is registered in the International Orchid Register of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The grex was registered by Ecuagenera on August 29, 2025.
Etymology: The genus name Masdevallia honors José Masdeval, a Spanish physician and botanist. Otto Roblero is the registered grex name of this hybrid.
Location/Growing Conditions: We recommend a bright to partially shaded location with diffuse light and no strong direct sunlight. The hybrid prefers cool to temperate conditions of about 9–21 °C and particularly benefits from cool nights. High humidity of about 70–90% should be combined with very good, continuous air movement.
Description and Notes: Masdevallia Otto Roblero combines Masdevallia Falcata with Masdevallia MacInnes' Golden Heart. The hybrid grows compactly and produces the upright, single-leaved shoots typical of Masdevallia. The flowers can combine the clear upright form of Falcata with warm yellow to golden hues and good flower substance from the MacInnes'-Golden-Heart line. We keep the substrate evenly lightly moist and do not allow the fine roots to dry out completely. At the same time, excess water must be able to drain away quickly. A fine, airy substrate and small pots are beneficial. At higher temperatures, particularly high humidity, strong air movement, and protection from overheating are important.
