Name: Masdevallia Cholita Cuencana

Etymology: The genus name Masdevallia honors the Spanish physician and botanist José Masdevall. “Cholita Cuencana” is the registered grex name and refers to the traditional name “Cholita” from the Cuenca region of Ecuador.

Registration: The hybrid was registered in 2012.

Origin / Breeding: Hybrid of Masdevallia Monicana × Masdevallia uniflora.

Description & Care: Compact Masdevallia hybrid with elegant flowers and long, tapered floral segments. We grow it in bright to shaded conditions in diffuse light, with high humidity and consistent moisture. The potting medium should never dry out completely while remaining airy. We cultivate it in cool conditions, at approximately 10–20°C during the day and 7–13°C at night.
