Name: Lepanthes Elegant Escobar
Parents: Lepanthes escobariana × Lepanthes elegantula ‘Striped’
Registration: Registered with the RHS International Orchid Register on April 30, 2022, by T. Albrecht for Ecuagenera; L. Minet is listed as the originator.
Location/Culture: We recommend intermediate conditions of approximately 16–24 °C, bright filtered light, very high humidity, and gentle, constant air movement. The fine roots require a very airy, moisture-retentive substrate, such as fine sphagnum moss, and should not be allowed to dry out completely. At the same time, leaves and roots should not remain permanently wet after misting.
Description and Notes: Lepanthes Elegant Escobar is a compact, free-flowering miniature hybrid. The numerous flowers can display shades of yellow, ochre, or dark red and reach an impressive size for the genus. Lepanthes elegantula ‘Striped’ contributes to the fine patterns, while Lepanthes escobariana enhances the flower's striking appearance. Color, pattern, and exact flower shape may vary between seedlings. Old inflorescences should only be removed once they have completely dried, as they can produce flowers again.
