Description

Lepanthopsis acuminata

Name: Lepanthopsis acuminata

Etymology: The genus name Lepanthopsis means “Lepanthes-like”; acuminata means “pointed.”

Origin/Distribution: Tropical America.

Location/Habitat: We grow this miniature orchid intermediately at around 12–24°C, with very high humidity, diffuse light, and continuous gentle air movement. The very fine roots must never dry out completely.

Description and Notes: The species produces fine, densely growing shoots with small leaves and delicate inflorescences with numerous tiny flowers. We preferably grow it mounted with some sphagnum moss or in a very fine, airy, and slightly moisture-retaining medium. As soft water as possible is ideal.
