Description

Lepanthes sijmii

Name: Lepanthes sijmii Luer & Sijm

Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek; sijmii honors A. P. Sijm.

Original description: 2002 by Carlyle A. Luer and A. P. Sijm.

Origin/Distribution: The species originates from Peru.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate Lepanthes sijmii cool to intermediate at about 13–22 °C, with very high humidity, bright filtered light, and continuous gentle air movement. We keep the fine roots constantly slightly moist.

Description and notes: This compact Lepanthes produces small, successively appearing flowers and is excellently suited for a humid display case. The fine root system must never dry out completely; at the same time, good air movement is important.
