Description

Lepanthes nicolasii

Name: Lepanthes nicolasii Luer & R.Escobar

Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek; the specific epithet nicolasii is a personal name.

Origin/Distribution: The species is native to Colombia.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate Lepanthes nicolasii in cool to intermediate conditions at around 13–22 °C, with very high humidity, bright filtered light, and continuous gentle air movement. We keep the fine, airy substrate constantly slightly moist.

Description and Notes: This small epiphytic Lepanthes develops slender shoots with single leathery leaves and tiny, intricately detailed flowers. It is particularly well suited to a moist terrarium. We completely avoid prolonged dry periods.
