Description

Lepanthes mulleriana

Name: Lepanthes mulleriana Luer

Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek and literally means "scale flower." The epithet mulleriana honors Philip Müller.

First description: The species was described by Carlyle A. Luer in 1998.

Origin / Habitat: Ecuador, as a small epiphyte in humid mountain and cloud forests. It grows in cool to intermediate conditions and prefers a consistently humid environment.

Description & notes: Small, compact-growing Lepanthes with a single upright leaf per shoot and successive small flowers. We cultivate it in bright to shaded conditions with high humidity, good air circulation, and consistent moisture. The substrate must not dry out for long periods. We keep it at approximately 11–20 °C.
