Description

Lepanthes imitator

Name: Lepanthes imitator Luer & Hirtz

Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek; imitator means "imitator" and refers to its similarity to related species.

First description: 1996 by Carlyle A. Luer and Alexander Hirtz.

Origin/Distribution: The species originates from Ecuador.

Location/Habitat: It grows epiphytically in cool, humid mountain and cloud forests. We cultivate it cool at about 10–18 °C, with very high humidity, bright filtered light, and continuous gentle air movement.

Description and notes: This miniature orchid forms slender shoots, individual leaves, and tiny, detailed flowers. We keep the fine roots consistently slightly moist; we avoid permanently warm conditions and prolonged dry periods.
