Description

Lepanthes eros

Name: Lepanthes eros

First described: 1984 by Carlyle A. Luer and Rodrigo Escobar.

Origin/Distribution: The species is native to Colombia.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate Lepanthes eros in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 14–24 °C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and gentle air movement. Sphagnum or a very fine, airy, and moisture-retentive substrate is well suited; the fine roots should never dry out completely.

Description and Notes: Lepanthes eros is a compact miniature orchid with delicate, intensely colored flowers. The flowers appear sequentially on the fine inflorescences, allowing established plants to bloom repeatedly over extended periods. The species is particularly well suited for display cases or temperate terrariums.
