Name: Lepanthes ejecta
Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek word components. The Latin specific epithet ejecta means “thrown out,” “extended outward,” or “protruding,” and refers to a conspicuously prominent feature of the flower.
Origin/Distribution: Andean region of South America.
Location/Habitat: The species grows epiphytically in moist montane forests. We recommend shade to bright, diffused light, high humidity, and continuous gentle air movement. Moderate conditions of approximately 13–24 °C during the day and 9–17 °C at night are favorable. The very fine roots should remain evenly and lightly moist.
Description and Notes: Lepanthes ejecta is a miniature botanical orchid with a compact growth habit and small, exceptionally detailed flowers. We prefer to cultivate it mounted with a little moss or in a very fine, airy orchid substrate. High humidity combined with good air movement is particularly important. We use as soft water as possible and avoid both complete drying out and persistently wet, oxygen-poor conditions.
