Name: Lepanthes delhierroi Luer & Hirtz
Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek; delhierroi honors an Ecuadorian explorer and plant collector named Del Hierro.
Original description: 1993 by Carlyle A. Luer and Alexander Hirtz.
Origin/Distribution: The species originates from Ecuador.
Location/Habitat: We cultivate Lepanthes delhierroi cool to intermediate at about 13–23 °C, with very high humidity, bright filtered light, and continuous gentle air movement. We keep the fine roots constantly slightly moist in sphagnum or a very fine, airy substrate.
Description and notes: This compact highland species develops a few, successively appearing flowers that can stand clearly above the foliage. It is excellently suited for a cool to temperate terrarium. We avoid prolonged summer heat and complete drying out.
