Name: Laeliocattleya Orange NL
Etymology: Laeliocattleya is the traditional name for hybrids of Laelia and Cattleya. “Orange NL” is the name under which this selection is marketed.
Location/Growing conditions: We recommend intermediate to warm conditions of around 16–28 °C, very bright filtered light, moderate to high humidity, and good air circulation. A coarse, fast-draining bark mix in a hanging pot is ideal. Water thoroughly and fertilize lightly during active growth; allow the plant to dry slightly between waterings. After the pseudobulbs have matured, reduce watering somewhat without allowing the plant to remain completely dry for extended periods.
Description and notes: This Cattleya relative produces strong pseudobulbs with leathery leaves and striking flowers in warm shades of orange. Flower size, color intensity, and markings may vary depending on the plant and growing conditions. Plenty of filtered light encourages compact growth and intense flower color. When repotting, it is best to wait until new root growth begins, as the plant will then establish itself in the fresh medium most quickly.
