Description

Houllinia Alex Hirtz

Name: Houllinia Alex Hirtz

Parents: Houlletia tigrina × Paphinia hirtzii

Registration: Intergeneric hybrid registered with the RHS; registered on April 23, 2023, by Ecuagenera.

Location/Culture conditions: We grow Houllinia Alex Hirtz in intermediate to warm conditions at approximately 17–27 °C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and good air circulation. We keep the airy, slightly moisture-retentive substrate consistently moist during the growth phase.

Description and notes: This unusual Stanhopeinae hybrid combines the strong floral character of Houlletia tigrina with the elegant, striking blooms of Paphinia hirtzii. The inflorescences grow pendulously, which is why we recommend growing it in a basket or wooden crate.
