Description

Dracula soennemarkii

Name: Dracula soennemarkii Luer & Dalström

Etymology: Dracula means “little dragon.” The specific epithet honors the Swedish discoverer Sönnemark.

First described: 2012 by Carlyle A. Luer and Stig Dalström.

Origin/distribution: Ecuador.

Location/habitat: Epiphytic in moist cloud forests. For cultivation, we recommend approximately 10–21 °C, high humidity, shaded light, and consistent air circulation.

Description and notes: A rare, small-flowered species with long, slightly drooping to horizontal flower spikes. An open basket allows the spikes to develop freely. Keep the fine, airy substrate evenly moist, without allowing it to become waterlogged.
