Synonyms:

Etymology:
nycterinus = nocturnal (also in the sense of dark), possibly also in the sense of fragrant at night

Origin: Colombia
Habitat:
epiphytic on moss-covered trees in cloud forests at elevations of 1200 to 2000 meters
Notes:
The flowers of Dracula nycterina are about 5 x 5 cm in size. The flower stems are horizontal to pendulous, with terminal flowers.

Cultivation: Cool to intermediate at about 12–22 °C, shady to moderately bright, with very high humidity and gentle air movement. Keep evenly moist in a basket with a fine, airy medium.
