Name: Dracula morleyi Luer & Dalström
Etymology: The specific epithet morleyi honors the biologist and nature photographer Morley Read, who worked in Ecuador.
First described: 1993 by Carlyle A. Luer and Stig Dalström.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador and Peru.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic in moist primary and cloud forests at approximately 1,900 m above sea level. We recommend cool conditions of approximately 10–20 °C, very high humidity, shaded light, and constant air circulation.
Description and Notes: This compact species produces medium-sized flowers, whose elongated sepals can reach a total span of approximately 16 cm. Large plants produce several flower stalks, each bearing a single pendant flower. Grow in open baskets and keep the fine, airy substrate evenly moist. Avoid summer heat and waterlogging.
