Name: Dracula houtteana ‘Seminario San Luis’ AOS/CCM 85

Origin/Distribution: Dracula houtteana is native to the moist montane forests of the northern Andes.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate this Dracula in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 12–21°C, in shady to bright filtered light, with very high humidity and continuous gentle air movement. We keep the fine, airy, and moisture-retaining substrate evenly moist and never allow it to dry out completely.

Description and Notes: ‘Seminario San Luis’ is an excellent clonal selection of Dracula houtteana; the designation AOS/CCM 85 refers to a cultural award from the American Orchid Society. The unusual flowers display the triangular basic shape typical of Dracula, with elongated sepal tails. We avoid prolonged exposure to heat.
