Name: Dracula diana Luer & R.Escobar
Etymology: The genus name Dracula means “little dragon.” The species epithet refers to Diana, the Roman goddess of the moon, and alludes to the bright, rounded-looking flowers.
First described: In 1981 by Carlyle A. Luer and Rodrigo Escobar.
Origin/Distribution: Colombia.
Habitat: Epiphytic on moss-covered branches in cloud forests of the Western Cordillera, at about 1,200–1,600 m. Cool to intermediate conditions of approximately 11–21 °C, high humidity, and good air circulation are recommended.
