Name: Coelogyne convallariiformis (Schauer) M.W.Chase & Schuit.
Synonym: Dendrochilum convallariiforme Schauer
Etymology: The genus name Coelogyne is derived from Greek and refers to the sunken stigma; convallariiformis means “lily-of-the-valley-like.”
First described: The species was described in 1843 as Dendrochilum convallariiforme; the combination in Coelogyne was published in 2021.
Origin/Distribution: The species is native to the Philippines.
Location/Habitat: We grow it in intermediate to warm conditions at around 18–27 °C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and good air movement. During growth, we keep the airy potting medium evenly slightly moist.
Description and Notes: This compact orchid produces pseudobulbs with single leaves and elegant inflorescences bearing numerous small flowers. The potting medium may dry slightly on the surface between waterings, but should not remain dry for long during active growth.
