Description

Dendrobium trichostomum f. xanthinum

Name: Dendrobium trichostomum Schltr. f. xanthinum

Etymology: The genus name Dendrobium means "living on trees"; the designation xanthinum refers to the yellowish color form.

Origin/Distribution: The species is native to Southeast Asia.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate this form intermediately at around 14–26 °C, with bright filtered light and good air circulation. During growth, we water regularly and allow the airy substrate to dry out slightly between waterings.

Description and Notes: The plant produces slender shoots and attractive yellowish flowers. After the shoots have matured, we reduce watering slightly and provide a slight drop in nighttime temperatures, without allowing the plant to dry out completely for extended periods.
