Name: Dendrobium Martine Minet
Parents: Dendrobium violaceum × Dendrobium vexillarius
Registration: Registered on October 30, 2023, by L. Minet with the Royal Horticultural Society.
Etymology: The genus name Dendrobium means “living on trees.” The grex name honors Martine Minet; “f. red” indicates the red color selection and is not a botanical form.
Location/growing conditions: Both parents are highland species. We recommend growing at cool to moderate temperatures of approximately 12–23 °C, with significantly cooler nights, high humidity, strong air circulation, and bright, filtered light. Grow in fine bark with sphagnum moss or on a medium that retains moisture well. Keep evenly and lightly moist and fertilize lightly; avoid warm, stagnant air.
Description and notes: This primary hybrid combines the intensely colored flowers of both species and usually remains compact. The red selection offered may show strong red to purple tones. Seedlings and different clones vary in color distribution, flower size, and growth habit. Good nighttime temperature reduction and low-salt water promote healthy roots and regular flowering.
