Name: Dendrobium Hsinying Smile 'Mount Blanc'
Parents: Dendrobium prasinum × Dendrobium smillieae
Etymology: The genus name Dendrobium literally means "living on trees." 'Mount Blanc' is the designation of this selected clone and alludes to its bright, whitish-green flowers.
Location/Cultivation Conditions: We recommend temperate to warm conditions of approximately 16–28 °C, bright filtered light, and good air circulation. Water thoroughly in coarse, airy bark in a hanging pot during active growth and allow to dry slightly afterwards. A distinct dry winter rest is not necessary; water can be reduced somewhat during periods of slower growth.
Description and Notes: This primary hybrid combines the more compact influence of D. prasinum with the more robust, cane-like stems of D. smillieae. The 'Mount Blanc' clone forms dense clusters of bright, whitish to mint-green-looking flowers at the nodes of mature stems. Good light conditions and consistent moisture during growth promote flowering.
