Name: Dendrobium (sulawesiense × cuthbertsonii large)
Parents: Dendrobium sulawesiense × Dendrobium cuthbertsonii
Description & Notes: An interesting primary hybrid of two extraordinary Dendrobium species. It combines the characteristics of color-intense highland Dendrobiums and is particularly suitable for collectors who can cultivate compact plants under cool to intermediate conditions. Consistent moisture, high humidity, and good air circulation are more important than a pronounced dry rest period.
Light: Bright with plenty of filtered, indirect light. Avoid intense, direct midday sun.
Temperature: Cool to intermediate, ideally about 15–23 °C during the day and 10–16 °C at night. Avoid prolonged heat, especially warm nights, as much as possible.
Water & Humidity: Keep evenly slightly moist and preferably use soft, low-mineral water. Do not let the root system dry out completely for long periods, while simultaneously avoiding waterlogging. Humidity of about 70–90% with very good air circulation is beneficial.
Substrate: Fine and very airy orchid substrate consisting of bark with some sphagnum moss. Alternatively, mounting is possible if humidity is sufficiently high. The root environment should retain moisture but remain well-ventilated at all times.
