Description

Cattlianthe Chloris 'coerulea'

Name: Cattlianthe Chloris ‘coerulea’

Parents: Cattleya bowringiana × Cattleya maxima

Location/Growing conditions: Grow in very bright light, warm to intermediate temperatures, and with constant air movement. A coarse bark mix works well. Water thoroughly and fertilize lightly during active growth; afterward, let the medium dry out substantially between waterings. Temperatures of about 18–28 °C and a nighttime drop of several degrees promote vigorous growth and intense flower color.

Description and notes: This line, selected for its coerulea coloring, combines the floriferous influence of Cattleya bowringiana with the larger, elegant flowers of Cattleya maxima. Expect several lavender to bluish-violet flowers on upright stems; color intensity and lip markings may vary among seedlings.
