Name: Coelogyne glandulosa Lindl.
Synonyms: Pleione glandulosa (Lindl.) Kuntze
Etymology: The genus name Coelogyne refers to the recessed stigma of the flower. The Latin glandulosa means “glandular.”
First described by: John Lindley, 1853.
Origin/Distribution: Southern India.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic in moist montane forests at middle to higher elevations. The species prefers bright, filtered light, high humidity, and cool to intermediate temperatures of approximately 10–22°C.
Description and Notes: Coelogyne glandulosa has ovate pseudobulbs with two leathery leaves. Erect inflorescences bear several white flowers with yellow markings on the lip. We use a loose, well-draining bark-based potting mix with moisture-retaining components. During the growing season, it is watered regularly and lightly fertilized; in winter, we keep the plant slightly drier and cooler, but do not allow it to dry out completely.
