Description

Cattleya trianae f. alba

Name: Cattleya trianae f. alba

Origin/Distribution: A color form of Cattleya trianae, a species native to Colombia.

Location/Habitat: An epiphytic orchid of bright Andean forests. Grow in bright to very bright, airy conditions. A coarse, well-draining bark mix is suitable. Water regularly during growth; keep somewhat drier after the pseudobulbs have matured. Temperatures of around 16–27 °C are favorable.

Description and Notes: The alba form has white sepals and petals, as well as a mostly white lip, often with a yellowish throat. The large, elegantly shaped flowers usually appear in winter and may be pleasantly fragrant. Fully mature growths and a slight drop in nighttime temperatures encourage flowering.
