Description

Cattleya trianae ('Michael' x 'Splash #118')

Name: Cattleya trianae (‘Michael’ × ‘Splash #118’)

Parents: Two selected clones of Cattleya trianae; it is an interspecific hybrid.

Origin/Distribution: The species is native to Colombia and is one of the best-known large-flowered Cattleya species.

Location/Growing Conditions: We grow the seedlings in intermediate to warm conditions at around 17–27 °C, in very bright light and with good air circulation. During the growing season, we water regularly; the coarse potting medium should then dry out well.

Description and Notes: The hybrid combines the ‘Michael’ clone with the ‘Splash #118’ selection. Accordingly, the seedlings can develop particularly interesting lip and petal markings. Color and splash patterns vary from plant to plant.
