Description

Cattleya maxima f. semi-alba ('Hugo Medina' X 'Hector')

Name: Cattleya maxima f. semialba ‘Hugo Medina’ × ‘Hector’

Parents: Two selected semialba clones of Cattleya maxima; this is an interspecific hybrid.

Origin/Distribution: The species is distributed in western South America, especially in Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Growing Conditions: We cultivate the seedlings in intermediate to warm conditions at around 18–28 °C, in very bright light and with good air circulation. During growth, we water regularly; the coarse potting medium should then dry out well.

Description and Remarks: This hybrid combines the semialba selections ‘Hugo Medina’ and ‘Hector’. Light sepals and petals with a contrastingly colored lip are expected; the intensity of the lip color and striping may vary among the seedlings.
