Description

Cattleya maxima f. semialba (9 cm pot)

Name: Cattleya maxima f. semialba

Origin/Distribution: Color form of the species Cattleya maxima, native to Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Habitat: Grow in very bright, warm to intermediate conditions with good air circulation. Coarse orchid bark and rapid drainage are important. Water regularly during growth; keep slightly drier after the shoots have matured. Approximately 18–29 °C is suitable.

Description and Notes: The semialba form features very light to white sepals and petals, as well as a distinctly purple lip, often marked with yellow. The long pseudobulbs can bear several large, elegantly shaped flowers. Plenty of light promotes vigorous shoots and reliable flowering.
