Description

Cattleya maxima f. alba

Name: Cattleya maxima f. alba

Origin/Distribution: Color form of the species Cattleya maxima, native to Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Habitat: Cultivate in very bright, warm to intermediate conditions with good air circulation. A coarse, rapidly draining medium is suitable. Water regularly during growth; keep slightly drier after the shoots have matured. Approximately 18–29 °C is favorable.

Description and Notes: The alba form has white to creamy-white flowers without the typical purple pigmentation; the throat may be tinged yellow to green. The long pseudobulbs bear several large flowers. Plenty of light and a well-ventilated root zone promote stable shoots.
