Description

Cattleya maxima tall

Name: Cattleya maxima ‘Tall’

Origin/Distribution: Cultivated, tall-growing selection of the West South American species Cattleya maxima.

Location/Habitat: Grow in very bright, warm to intermediate conditions with good air circulation. A coarse bark medium ensures rapid drainage. Water regularly and fertilize lightly during growth; keep slightly drier after the shoots have matured. Approximately 18–29 °C is ideal.

Description and Notes: ‘Tall’ refers to a particularly tall-growing selection with long, slender pseudobulbs. The flowers have the characteristic appearance of Cattleya maxima: lavender-pink to purple with a wavy lip marked yellow and purple. Due to the upright growth habit, allow sufficient space and provide a stable support.
