Description

Cattleya maxima 'rosea'

Name: Cattleya maxima ‘Rosea’

Origin/Distribution: Cattleya maxima is widespread in western South America, particularly in Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Growing Conditions: We grow ‘Rosea’ in intermediate to warm conditions at around 18–28 °C, in very bright conditions with good air circulation. The coarse orchid potting medium is watered regularly during the growing season and should then be allowed to dry out well.

Description and Notes: ‘Rosea’ is a particularly strongly pink selection of Cattleya maxima. A marked day-night temperature difference during bud development can help produce intense flower coloration. The species produces elegant, often fragrant flower spikes.
