Cattleya maxima 'La Churonita'

Name: Cattleya maxima ‘La Churonita’

Origin/Distribution: A cultivated selection of the western South American species Cattleya maxima.

Location/Habitat: Grow in very bright, warm to intermediate conditions with good air circulation. A coarse, fast-draining bark mix works well. Water regularly and apply a weak fertilizer during growth; then keep somewhat drier. Temperatures of around 18–29 °C are favorable.

Description and Notes: ‘La Churonita’ is a richly colored selection with lavender to purple flowers and a lip marked in contrasting yellow and violet. The plant develops long pseudobulbs and can bear several large flowers on one stem. Abundant light promotes sturdy growths and intense coloration.
