Cattleya maxima 'Ecua 00139' x 'Ecua 00138'

Name: Cattleya maxima ‘Ecua 00139’ × ‘Ecua 00138’

Parents: Two selected clones of Cattleya maxima; it is an interspecific hybrid.

Origin/Distribution: The species is widespread in western South America, especially in Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Growing Conditions: We grow the seedlings in intermediate to warm conditions at around 18–28 °C, in very bright conditions and with good air circulation. The coarse potting medium is watered regularly and allowed to dry out well afterwards.

Description and Remarks: The hybrid combines the selected lines ‘Ecua 00139’ and ‘Ecua 00138’. Cattleya maxima produces elegant, often fragrant flower spikes; the seedlings may vary in color intensity, lip markings, and flower shape.
