Description

Cattleya maxima f. coerulea 'Gigi'

Name: Cattleya maxima f. coerulea ‘Gigi’

Origin/Distribution: Cultivated color form of the West South American species Cattleya maxima.

Location/Habitat: Grow in very bright, warm to intermediate conditions with good air circulation. Coarse bark allows the roots to dry quickly. Water regularly and fertilize lightly during growth; keep slightly drier after the pseudobulbs have matured. Temperatures around 18–29 °C are suitable.

Description and Notes: ‘Gigi’ is a coerulea form with cool silvery lavender to bluish-purple flower tones and a heavily marked lip. The long pseudobulbs can bear several large flowers on an upright inflorescence. Plenty of light promotes sturdy growth and intense coloration.
