Description

Cattleya maxima f. coerulea

Name: Cattleya maxima f. coerulea

Origin/Distribution: Color form of the species Cattleya maxima, native to Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic orchid for bright, airy locations. Grow in very bright and warm to intermediate conditions at approximately 18–29 °C. A coarse bark medium and rapid drainage are important. Water regularly during growth; keep slightly drier after the shoots have matured.

Description and Notes: The coerulea form displays cool, silvery lavender to bluish-purple tones and a more intensely colored lip with yellow markings. The plant produces long pseudobulbs and can yield several large flowers per shoot. Good air circulation and plenty of light support compact, healthy growth.
