Description

Cattleya maxima 'Clarita'

Name: Cattleya maxima ‘Clarita’

Origin/Distribution: Cattleya maxima is found in western South America, particularly in Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Growing Conditions: We grow ‘Clarita’ in intermediate to warm conditions at around 18–28 °C, in very bright conditions with good air circulation. The coarse orchid potting medium is watered regularly during the growing season and should then be allowed to dry out well.

Description and Notes: ‘Clarita’ is a selected cultivar of Cattleya maxima. The species develops slender pseudobulbs and elegant inflorescences with several, often pleasantly scented flowers. Plenty of light and a pronounced day-night temperature difference promote vigorous growth and intense flower colours.
