Description

Cattleya loddigesii var. alba 'Franz coerulea'

Name: Cattleya loddigesii var. alba ‘Franz coerulea’

Origin/Distribution: Cultivated color form of the southeastern Brazilian species Cattleya loddigesii.

Location/Habitat: Grow in very bright, airy conditions in coarse, rapidly draining bark. Water regularly and fertilize lightly during new growth; after the growth has matured, allow it to dry out more between waterings. Temperatures of around 16–28 °C with cooler nights are favorable.

Description and Notes: This form has the bifoliate growth habit of Cattleya loddigesii, with slender pseudobulbs and two firm leaves. The pale to white flowers feature a delicate, cool-toned lip pattern and may have a pleasant fragrance. Plenty of light and a well-ventilated root zone promote compact growth and reliable flowering.
