Description

Cattleya labiata 'amesiana'

Name: Cattleya labiata ‘Amesiana’

Origin/Distribution: Cultivated selection of the Brazilian species Cattleya labiata.

Location/Habitat: Grow in a very bright, airy spot in coarse orchid bark. Water thoroughly and fertilize lightly while new growth is developing; after the pseudobulbs have matured and the fall bloom has finished, keep somewhat drier. Temperatures of about 17–28 °C, with cooler nights, are suitable.

Description and Notes: ‘Amesiana’ is a historic selection of Cattleya labiata. The plant produces single-leaved pseudobulbs and large, fragrant flowers in delicate shades of lavender, with a purple lip and yellowish throat. Abundant light and fully mature growths promote reliable flowering.
