Description

Cattleya intermedia var. coerulea

Name: Cattleya intermedia f. coerulea

Origin/Distribution: A color form of a species native to southeastern South America.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic orchid suitable for bright, airy locations. Cultivate in very bright conditions and in coarse, rapidly draining bark. Water regularly during the growing season; keep slightly drier in winter. Temperatures of around 15–28 °C with cooler nights are ideal.

Description and Notes: The coerulea form has silvery lavender to bluish-purple sepals and petals, as well as a more intensely colored lip. The species produces two-leaved pseudobulbs and can bear several fragrant flowers on a single stem. Good air circulation and plenty of light promote healthy, compact growth.
