Description

Cattleya bowringiana (5 cm pot)

Name: Cattleya bowringiana O’Brien

Location/Habitat: A vigorous, epiphytic to lithophytic orchid that requires very bright light, good air circulation, and a fast-draining substrate. Temperatures of approximately 18–29 °C with cooler nights are favorable.

Description and Notes: Cattleya bowringiana forms tall, slender pseudobulbs and often bears abundantly flowered inflorescences in the autumn. The numerous flowers are usually pink to purple-violet and have a darker-colored lip. Water and fertilize moderately during growth; after the shoots have matured, reduce watering and allow the substrate to dry out well between waterings.
