Name: Bulbophyllum tremulum Wight
Synonyms: Phyllorchis tremula (Wight) Kuntze
Etymology: The genus name Bulbophyllum refers to the single leaf on each pseudobulb; tremulum refers to the mobile lip that trembles in a slight air current.
Origin/Distribution: The species is native to southern India.
Location/Habitat: We cultivate Bulbophyllum tremulum in intermediate to warm conditions at around 17–27 °C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and good air circulation. We keep the airy substrate evenly slightly moist.
Description and Notes: The mobile lip is particularly striking, trembling even in a slight air current. This characteristic gives the flowers an unusually lively appearance. We avoid allowing the roots to dry out completely for extended periods.
