Name: Bulbophyllum Medusa’s Kiss
Parents: Bulbophyllum vaginatum × Bulbophyllum medusae
Registration: Registered 2014; breeder R. E. García.
Etymology: The grex name Medusa’s Kiss alludes to the long, thread-like floral segments, which are reminiscent of the snake hair of Medusa from Greek mythology.
Location/Culture: We grow Bulbophyllum Medusa’s Kiss in warm to intermediate conditions at approximately 18–28 °C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and good air circulation. We keep the airy, slightly moisture-retentive substrate consistently slightly moist.
Description and notes: This extraordinary hybrid develops striking inflorescences with long, fine segments and combines the compact Bulbophyllum growth habit with the spectacular floral character of Bulbophyllum medusae. Wide baskets or shallow containers provide the creeping rhizome with sufficient space.
