Name: Brassolaeliocattleya Canyon 119-419 Ec
Parents: Brassolaeliocattleya Amuala Brazil × Rhyncholaeliocattleya Lawless Romeo Delight
Etymology: Brassolaeliocattleya is a traditional collective name for complex hybrids of the Cattleya alliance with ancestry from Brassavola, Laelia, and Cattleya. “Canyon 119-419 Ec” is the breeding or selection designation used.
Location/Cultivation Conditions: We grow this Cattleya alliance hybrid in very bright conditions, protected from intense midday sun. Intermediate to warm temperatures of around 17–28 °C, a slight drop in temperature at night, and good air circulation support vigorous growth. Water thoroughly and fertilize lightly while new shoots are developing; afterwards, allow the coarse, airy bark medium to dry out significantly between waterings. In winter, less water is sufficient during slower growth, but a pronounced dry rest is not necessary.
Description and Notes: This breeding cross, which is not designated as a separate grex, combines complex Cattleya lines. Large, substantial flowers with broad segments and a striking lip can be expected; color, patterning, and exact flower shape may vary among seedlings. A well-draining pot, plenty of light, and fully ventilated roots are particularly important for reliable cultivation.
